  • In And Around Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland

Co. Cork, Ireland must be one of the most splendid areas of a beautiful country, and the small market town of Newmarket is one of its important market towns.

Newmarket town – or, in the traditional Irish expression, Áth Trasna – the passage at the ford, is in the Barony of Duhallow, in the north-west of County Cork. Surrounded by Kerry and Limerick, and with the well-known Blackwater river flowing close by, full of its tasty salmon, it is a section of Ireland that you would be foolish to not visit.

The town of Newmarket itself, with just around 2,500 dwellers, befits the adjective ‘sleepy’ almost as well as anywhere in the country – unless you get to be passing through after an excessively vital G.A.A. Victory, when the town’s own verse, Up Up Newmarket, will be heard – they take their sport absolutely seriously here.

Located on a valley surrounded by the foothills of the Mulmuaghreirk Mountains, where Fionn (the legendary Finn McCool) pursued the wild boar and the stag, Newmarket also has a number of interesting pre-historic places around it – a cairn, gallauns (boundary stones) and forts. It is, indeed, a location filled with Irish history; John Philpot Curran was born here and his daughter, Sarah, was the ladylove of rebel head Robert Emmet. Just outside the town is the spectacular Island Wood, that contains the Twelve Apostles Tree – it has twelve smaller trunks growing from out of its main trunk. This isolated wooded area, with the River Dalua, bursting with salmon and trout, drifting splendidly through it, is an aptly popular location for quiet contemplation.

The Island Wood in Newmarket, Ireland, in fact, has been incorporated into a 100-mile walk known as the Duhallow Trail, exploring this enchantingly quiet portion of the earth, and passing though Newmarket itself. Other especially notable parts of the trail are the charming town of Kanturk and its popular castle, managed by An Taisce – The Irish National Trust and a wonderful monument. At the adjacent graveyard of Clonfert, there is a poignant, small Celtic cross denoting the massed burial site of scores of victims of the Great Famine.

In Newmarket itself you will notice the lively James O’Keefe Institute – primarily a housedwelling place built in 1725 for the Aldworth family, a member of which had formed the town a century earlier. this is now a thriving centre for the local community.

There are no hotels in Newmarket, County Cork, though there are several nice guesthouses or places offering Bed and Breakfast in the area. K.D.’s Fast Food, has a good reputation for the quality of its menu and its breezy ambience and there are other locations where you can get excellent food, such as Marie’s Restaurant, in the Main Street. It is certainly a town where you can be guaranteed of a real, warm Irish welcome.

Co. Cork has a wealth of spectacular attractions for visitors. The beautiful city of Cork itself is doubtlessly world acclaimed. The exotic blue flag beaches of Ballybunnion are nearby. Blarney Castle and Killarney are just a brief drive. And there are superbly exotic golf courses, lakes, hill-sides and rivers.

found on the R576, at its junction with the R578, Newmarket, one of County Cork’s hidden treasures, should be part of everyone’s program when they’re in Ireland’s south west corner.

  • Bath Vanities – Contemporary Modern or Traditional Cabinets

Check out some design sites for modern bathroom vanities and you’ll be astounded at some of the attractive and innovative designs on the market today. Just starting with sinks, you can find stylish pedestal stone options, beautiful wood designs with sinks in glass, wall mounted sinks and the latest designs in table top sinks with generous storage options below. Recent modern bathroom design trends allow for great diversity in style and color, with something guaranteed to catch your eye if you keep looking.

You can also find all glass options with both table top and sink in glass which will surely leave a very modern and stylish impression. Oak also seems to be back in fashion with some and has a more calming affect, almost rustic. We especially like wood faucet handles for some reason, with their natural feel. Or why not go for a sink chest and make that the center of attention in your bathroom.

Contemporary bathroom vanities lend a modern look to your bathroom. They can be derivative of the art deco style or get the style from some of the latest European trends (such as Italian or Scandinavian). Chrome or brushed aluminium could be used as a part of the contemporary look and lends the room a clean, bright look. Get inspired. Contemporary designs include unique modern ideas such as glass sinks which can add a distinctive appearance to the bathroom. You can also use a stone vessel sink as a part of modern bathroom design.

A more subtle approach in contemporary bathroom vanities are brushed chrome faucets, which lend a more demure look to the bathroom. Another statement of elegance (more traditional) is achieved if you use brass faucets instead, an option that some people may prefer. Consider a pedestal sink if you aren’t space challenged and don’t need the cabinet space below the vessel. It can be a lovely addition to any bathroom.

If you are in the process of building your bathroom from scratch or remodeling the bathroom of your existing dwelling you have more flexibility in choosing bathroom vanity cabinets that suit not only the overall decor of the house or the bathroom, but arealso practical and contain all the necessary storage you need. Get vanities that are both functional and stylish.

As you know there is not only one single type of bathroom vanity to choose between. That would really have been boring… To start with, you can find double sink vanities and single sink vanities. When you look for antique bathroom vanities you always need to make sure that they fit in your bathroom. So what sizes are there? Well, a single bathroom vanity has one sink, and, (duh!), two sinks in a double vanity. You may want some other trendy style of vanity like for example Mexican vanities, which seem to be quite popular these days. What are they? Bright colors and tiled floors are two things that can be said to typify a Mexican style bathroom.
