Practical Life Extension
There’s an ancient proverb, full of both wit and reason, that rings so true: “Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die.”
So why is it that we appear to want to live forever?Well, according to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, author of “Chasing Life” and CNN’s Senior Medical Correspondent, we don’t.
It turns out that our real quest is not eternal life on earth, according to Dr. Gupta, but instead, the ability to lead an exceptional life.
After interviewing some of the leading authorities on anti-aging and life extension, Dr. Gupta discovered three “universals” — three vital principles that each researcher deemed crucial to extending our lives naturally at the same time as empowering us to live exceptionally. These three principles are as follows:
- Weight training
- Good nutrition
- Having purpose and positive thinking
Jon Benson, author of “Fit Over 40″, explores each of these principles in great detail, as well as asking over 50 men and women how they have managed to slow the hands of time down to a complete crawl.
Benson doesn’t waste time with hype and hypothesis. Instead, he chooses to focus on real-world examples and applications that all of us can use to slow down the aging process and help prevent, and even reverse, the conditions that can lead to disease.

Midlife Crisis Alert: Impulse-Buying A Classic Mustang
So I haven’t so much been able to speak on the weblog quite as often as I might like, because of all the time I have been roped into helping my Dad manage his wet & wild midlife crisis. Well, you might think it isn’t as far gone as it could possibly be. You see, the way he played it out was he dressed up like fonzie, and storm over to my crib and proclaim to me, in his hippest tone of voice: “Hop in, son, we are going cruising for some classic Mustangs. That’s right, brother, I’m all set to get myself one.”
Before I knew what was happening he & I were on our way to all of those creepy vintage car places that most people are pretty much sure are mob-run, and I witness this wild old guy cut a check right there on the spot, for an extremely gleaming classic mustang. It’s quite car. It sounded great as well.
I want to point out that I put about that sound in the past tense. It sounded perfect right up to the point that it stopped making any noises. My Dad says that it’s a pretty easy problem and all he needs is the right part. The problem is, it is not as straightforward to get your hands on classic Mustang parts as it was about three decades years ago, but Dad insists that there’s a really big aftermarket for them to this day. As far as my Dad tells me the surest way to get you parts for classic Mustangs is via online auctions, since you can get them refurbished and often better than new. They’re only sometimes a steal, however… Get real, they are 30-year-old automotive parts.
I guess it could’ve been worse… Imagine if he would’ve got himself a volkswagen bus.
