Why Wear Scrubs?
If you go into a dentist, eye doctor, hospital or just about any medical related institution you see hundreds of employees in scrubs. Some private practices all wear the same color scrubs. It is the uniform of the medical field. So why do they all wear scrubs.
Doctors and others practicing use to just wear anything that they were currently wearing when practicing medicine but then due to the awareness of sanitation they realized they had to wear something different. They moved on to wearing aprons when perform certain procedures but since they were white and many medical procedures have to do with cutting they would get blood on them and look bad. This made them move to green uniforms that eventually became scrubs.
Now a days you see many brands such as Dickies Scrubs and just about any pattern and color of scrubs you can imagine. In fields dealing with children it is common to see the nurses and secretaries wearing cartoon and child related themes which make going to the doctors office a little easier for children since the workers don’t seem as scary.
Scrubs are universal in the medical industry and are very comfortable and durable material. This makes the long hours they have to put in easier and after much use they stay in good shape and don’t have to be replaced to often, keeping costs down.
